Signing Day: Spring 2024

Congratulations to these eight seniors for signing to continue their athletic careers as collegiate student-athletes: Ryan Callaham, golf at Oglethorpe University; O’Neill Connolly, basketball at University of Montevallo; Ben Jacobs, baseball at Maryville College; Lane Kruse, volleyball at Carnegie Mellon University; Josh Lange, wrestling at Davidson College; Aidan Pullaro, baseball at Andrew College; Chip Scarbrough, football at Shorter University; Savannah Simmons, track & field at Wake Forest University.

This brings the total number of senior signees to fifteen. Go Patriots!

 

“While his year-over-year scoring average improvements are impressive, perhaps the most impressive quality Ryan has is his work ethic. Ryan’s work ethic is downright legendary. it would not surprise me one bit if he hasn’t missed a single day of golf practice in the last 365 days. It is not an exaggeration to say that the time Ryan has spent at the golf course rivals the amount of time he spent sleeping over the past year. All that to say, Oglethorpe is getting an extremely hard-working and talented athlete who’s as good a person as he is a player. Congratulations Ryan.” - Coach Saari

“A lot of times in high school athletics we see these great quotes online, in a book or during a clinic that we use to try and motivate our teams. A lot of times, our players are not mature enough or disciplined enough to execute the things these quotes would require. O’Neill Connolly is a living example of so many of those cliche sports quotes we see. He did not letter at Holy Innocents as a junior (not sure how!!) but he came to Mount Pisgah, and if it wasn’t for his injury, he would have been Region Player of the Year along with earning his athletic scholarship to Montevallo. One year can totally change someone’s life. I appreciate O’Neill’s constant work ethic and resiliency because his story will inspire future players that aren’t even born yet. “Ben is one of the hardest working and most coachable players I have ever coached. He has put in the extra work and dedicated himself to getting to the next level. His dedication and sacrifices paid off, and he will be a great college baseball player and student athlete. Mount Pisgah will be represented well.” - Coach Woods

“The growth in Lane over the last four years makes me so excited to see her continue that growth over the next four at Carnegie Mellon. Her role in our program changed a little bit each year, and she took each new role and made it her own. She continually worked on her physical and mental game, which led to 1A Player of the Year honors and a State Championship. It has really been a pleasure to be a part of Lane’s volleyball career, and I can’t wait to see what else she’ll accomplish!”- Coach Morgan

“Outside of Josh Lange helping our team win three state championships. He is one of only a handful of Mount Pisgah wrestlers to be a 4-time state placer and hold 150+ varsity wins. Josh has always been like no other wrestler we've had before. His ability to sacrifice personal success for team success sets him apart. In addition, he is one of the hardest workers on the wrestling mat, and in the classroom! Our coaching staff is super proud of him and can't wait to see what the future holds for him.” - Coach Merry

His dedication to the game and his selfless contributions to the team are big reasons why he has the opportunity to play college baseball. He has dreamed of playing at the next level even before stepping foot on campus. "Savannah's MPCS Track & Field career has been long and successful. She holds the School Record in Long Jump, as well as an Individual State Title in the same event. Through the past 4 years, she has accrued more top State placements than there is time to list...Savannah has been a top contributor to the Girls track program every year, providing double-digit points at the State meet every year, enabling multiple team podium finishes. She is talented and is a leader, but she is also a learner and a worker. She pursues excellence in every area that she possibly can and literally never settles." - Coach Payne
