Theatre

“Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger.”
— Ben Okri
Theatre is a way of taking great stories and embodying them as truly as possible for a live audience. The Theatre program at Mount Pisgah focuses on how to tell great stories well, no matter the age or skill level of the student.

Starting in the Middle School, students learn to turn their play into plays by focusing on character, movement, creative writing, and lots of games. While there are lots of smaller opportunities to perform in 5th and 6th grade, 7th and 8th graders can showcase their own work to a wider audience, as well as perform in the Middle School play.

In the Upper School, Theatre students start to tackle more challenging work, repertoire, and concepts, while still having fun in a low pressure, welcoming environment. Areas of study in the Upper include storytelling, solo performance, acting, improv, theatrical design, and devised theatre.

Upper School students who wish to engage and perform at the highest level possible at Mount Pisgah may apply to join Thespian Troupe 7371.
