Varsity Wrestlers Place 4th at State Duals

Congratulations to the Varsity Wrestling team on placing fourth in the Dual State Championships!
This is the fourth year in a row that Mount Pisgah Wrestling placed in the GHSA Dual State Championship.
The team won the Area Duals for the 3rd year in a row, beating both Holy Innocents and Mount Vernon.
During the first round of State, the Patriots defeated both Towns County and Mount de Sales to advance to the Dual State Championships.
After last year’s Dual State Championship, the team’s success wasn’t certain after losing 6 starters to graduation and not having a full line due to injury. And despite facing one of the hardest draws in the bracket, the team advanced to the final rounds of the state tournament.
Mount Pisgah beat Charlton County before facing Trion in the State Semi-finals. As the heavy favorite, no other team has come close to beating Trion this season. The match between the two was back and forth until the very end. The Patriots gave Trion all they had and ended up losing by one match.
Mount Pisgah battled back to place 4th losing to Commerce in the 3/4th place match.
This is the fourth year in a row Mount Pisgah Wrestling Team placed in the GHSA Dual State Championship. The wrestling team now changes gears and will wrestle in the Individual Tournaments to try to advance to the Individuals State Championship. Area will be this weekend at Holy Innocents.
