Varsity Wrestling Wins Traditional State Championship

FEB. 11 -- The Varsity Wrestling team won the 2021 GHSA Traditional State Championship last night, defeating second-place finisher Commerce by 51 points. The victory makes the team both the Duals State Champion and Traditional State Champion for Class A in the 2021 season.
In addition to the team finish, four wrestlers were individual state champions in their weight class: sophomore Tyler Nelson (132), sophomore Joey Bertrand (152), senior Josh Noble (113), and senior David Bertrand (170) who won the gold medal for the third year in a row.
Other top finishers included:
Silver Medal: Marley Washington (9th)
 
Bronze Medal: Catherine Grace Bertrand (12th), Jake Piccirilli (12th), Cole Spence (11th)
 
4th place: Josh Lange (9th)
 
5th place: Happy Chane (12th), Brady Nardella (10th)
 
Senior Catherine Grace Bertrand also earned the distinction of being the first girl in GHSA history to finish in the top 3 in boys' wrestling. A huge congratulations to the coaches and wrestlers for a truly outstanding season. Go Patriots!
