REDEFINING HIGH SCHOOL SUCCESS

A spotlight on the Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Salutatorian - and their reflections on balance in the high school experience

In a recent episode of the student-run Beyond the Bell podcast, host Grayson Barrett sits down with two members of the Class of 2026 who have reached one of the highest academic distinctions at Mount Pisgah Christian School: valedictorian Sanhita Panse and salutatorian Ellie Plunkett.

While their achievements are impressive, this conversation moves beyond class rank. It offers a thoughtful look at the choices and perspectives that have shaped their high school journeys.

One of the most meaningful takeaways is how both students approach the idea of sacrifice. Rather than seeing high school as a series of trade-offs, they view it as a series of choices. There are busy seasons and late nights, but both make a conscious effort to stay involved in what matters most to them, from friendships to athletics and other activities. For them, success is about learning how to prioritize.

That sense of balance comes up again when they share advice for younger students. Relationships, extracurricular involvement, and personal interests all hold value alongside academics. There is no single path to success, and comparison only distracts from personal growth. Instead, they encourage students to focus on their own goals.

Their reflections on freshman year offer another important perspective. Both emphasize the value of exploring interests early. Choosing classes based on genuine curiosity often leads to stronger performance and a more meaningful experience. Trying new activities can open unexpected doors and help students discover passions they may not have considered.

Outside the classroom, both students invest deeply in causes and communities that matter to them. From working with children and serving in church ministries to leadership roles in service organizations and athletics, their time at Pisgah reflects a commitment to growth that extends beyond academics.

They also speak honestly about the importance of rest. Whether it is spending time with family, going for a run, or simply taking a break from schoolwork, creating space to recharge is essential to maintaining both motivation and perspective.

As they prepare for what comes next, both students are excited to continue pursuing their interests at the collegiate level. Their paths may differ, but their mindset remains the same. Success is not defined by a number.

This episode of Beyond the Bell is a reminder that achievement at Pisgah is about more than outcomes. It is about the journey and the character developed through each experience.
