Lower School Student Support Services

Lower School Student Support Services

The Lower School Student Support Programs combine the expertise of learning specialists, classroom teachers, and counselors to provide students with additional learning support and skill reinforcement using evidence-based instructional practices. Students are supported when needed while maintaining their connection to their classroom community. Each student’s progress towards specific goals is monitored regularly and their individual goals and plan for support is adjusted accordingly. Support is provided until a student’s learning goals are met.

In the Early Intervention program, a learning specialist supports Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students in developing foundational reading and math skills, partnering with classroom teachers and working with students in small groups to strengthen these critical skills.

In the Academic Support program, a learning specialist supports students in 3rd and 4th grade by partnering with their classroom teacher and working with them in small groups to reinforce their progress on grade-level reading and math skills and solidify key prerequisite skills.
