Growing Up at Mount Pisgah Christian School

GROWING UP AT MPCS

From Pre-K to Upper School, one student reflects on the moments and relationships that shaped her journey

By Chloe Parker, Class of 2028

I've attended Mount Pisgah Christian School since Pre-K and for me, it's a sense of home. The Mount Pisgah community is what I've grown up with and the way MPCS shaped me isn't comparable to any other community. Mount Pisgah fosters lasting relationships.

Traditions like Alpha to Omega, the pairing of a Senior with a Kindergarten buddy, always hold a special place in my heart. Seeing the Seniors and Kindergarteners walk though that year together reminds me of my own experience and how memorable I know those moments will be to both of them going forward.

I still remember my Alpha to Omega experience, and how special my senior buddy made it for me. I remember her asking me ‘whats your favorite candy’ and I replied ‘M&M’s’ because that was my brother's favorite candy, then the next time we met she brought me M&M’s. That simple act of love will live on with me forever.

Other traditions like going to Sharptop have and will continue to have a lasting impact on me. During COVID in 5th grade we couldn’t go to Sharptop, so instead we had “staytop” where we had a week of fun on campus “camp like” activities. This showed me that the community can have fun together, even when plans change.

In the Mount Pisgah community, I never feel out of place or left out. Growing up here has given me the opportunity to set a good example of being inclusive and positive. I'm given the chance to make a difference and lead like Christ would.

Mount Pisgah has also provided me with strong core values. Growing up in an environment where it's “normal” to be respected and cared for gave me good examples about how I can show respect and care in my own life.

Of course, a big part of Mount Pisgah is the teachers. Teachers constantly show love, compassion, and grace. Even though that's not in their official job description, their character shines through them daily.

When I see teachers I’ve had in the past and they remember me, it brings me so much joy. Especially when someone remembers me all the way from Pre-K, it makes me feel cared for beyond words.

Growing up at MPCS has led me to success both academically and within the community.
