GROWING FORWARD TOGETHER: FROM ONE GRADE TO THE NEXT
A spotlight on our January Step-Up experiences for Lower, Middle, and Upper School Patriots
Last week, students across Mount Pisgah’s Lower, Middle, and Upper schools were invited to step into what comes next through a series of Step Up Days designed to foster readiness, belonging, and joyful anticipation. Each experience offered age-appropriate glimpses into new classrooms, routines, and relationships.

Big Steps for Little Learners
PK4 Step Up to Kindergarten | January 13
Our Murray Academy PK4 students spent the morning alongside new Kindergarten friends, joining them for centers, shared learning, and time using classroom technology. The day concluded with a special milestone as students enjoyed a pizza lunch in the “big” cafeteria. For many, it was a moment that made the next season feel both real and exciting!

Middle School, Up Close
Fourth Grade Step Up to Middle School | January 16
Fourth graders arrived at the MPCS Middle School building to a warm and enthusiastic welcome from fifth graders and school leaders, including Middle School Principal Kendra Sue Finch, complete with fun signs, balloons, and music. Students joined fifth grade classes for the morning, including advisory, before sharing lunch in the Middle and Upper School cafeteria. The experience helped these students on the brink of a big transition begin to picture themselves in a new setting while feeling encouraged and supported.

The Next Chapter
Eighth Grade Step Up to Upper School | January 16
Eighth graders began their Step Up experience with a welcome from Upper School principal Marie Woods before heading off to two ninth grade classes selected based on student interest. Many had the opportunity to step into learning opportunities not yet offered at the Middle School level, including worship band, science labs and weight training. The morning wrapped up with a time to regroup and reflect together, offering students confidence as they look toward Upper School.
Across all three Step Up Days, students were met with encouragement, thoughtful preparation, and a strong sense of community. As our Patriots continue growing forward, they do so surrounded by people who are committed to walking alongside them from one grade to the next.
