GRATITUDE AT ALL STAGES
A culture rooted in thankfulness
By Chloe Parker, Class of 2028
At Mount Pisgah we value showing gratitude to our community whether it's through meaningful messages, words of thanks or just a simple thank you. Our goal is for each and every person to feel appreciated, and our tight knit community allows us to do that.

Everday Moments that Shape Grateful Hearts
Ways Mount Pisgah helps students show gratitude is through writing Thankgrams to friends and teachers, saying thank you when someone holds the door for you or saying thank you to your teacher after class and highlighting student accomplishments during the morning announcements are simple ways that we show our gratitude.
We work intentionally to make sure our Upper School students are modeling this for the other students. For example, to celebrate Thanksgiving Week, our Seniors met with their Kindergarten Buddies at our "Alpha and Omega Meet-Up" to provide mentorship through hands on learning and play.
Mount Pisgah also upholds a standard of kindness for all students which helps add parts of gratitude into all conversations. Being kind starts a cycle of gratefulness where you can't be kind without gratitude alongside it. The combination of kindness and gratitude helps to enhance someone's mental health. You never know what someone's going through and all they might need is some appreciation.
Serving with Purpose
During seasons of gratitude we need to remember to put it into action and give thanks. Giving back to the community is one way we can do that. Mount Pisgah often has opportunities to volunteer for the community, like decorating for the homecoming dance or volunteering your car’s trunk for the annual Trunk-or-Treat.
Being active in the community and participating are important. Going to things like football games, cross country meets, soccer games, and cheering the players on, it uplifts the players and shows them your appreciation. Not only do the players benefit, we do too. You will feel proud of yourself for cheering on the players but you can start conversations with them as well.
Peyton Vicchrilli, a sophomore, explains how Mount Pisgah has shown her gratitude.
“As a new student, Mount Pisgah has shown me gratitude because everyone is so nice, so welcoming, and everyone tries to make sure you belong and are comforted.” said Vicchrilli.
Gratitude Stregnthens Community
Gratitude strengthens human connections and relationships. A community flourishes through gratitude and showing thankfulness. That's why students at Mount Pisgah are so close and it feels like a family. We can express our gratitude for each other and grow in our relationships. But it's not only with students, it's with teachers whether it's a student to teacher relationship or a teacher to teacher relationship. The entire perspective of classes is changed when thankfulness enters the picture.
