HOUSES UNITE FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATING CONTEST
A new tradition is brought to life in our Middle School
The halls of Mount Pisgah's Middle School burst with extra energy this December as our Houses launched their very first Christmas Decorating Contest. Each corner became a festive scene, created through teamwork and creativity, transforming the building and bringing the community together in new ways.
A simple idea soon blossomed into a two-week project that united students, brightened our halls, and sparked a joyful new tradition.
More Than Just Ornaments
Each House was given a corner of the Middle School and tasked to design a Christmas tree scene reflecting their unique spirit. It became a hands-on chance for students to collaborate, share ideas, and bring their creativity to life.
Middle School Principal Kendra Sue Finch saw the contest as a chance for every student to shine. “This got all the Houses working toward a common goal,” she said. “Creative students came front and center, and it was so meaningful for our students to see their peers’ talents light up the school.”
The halls buzzed as students worked side-by-side, sharing ideas and building their tree scenes with laughter and teamwork. What looked like chaos quickly turned into pure joy as each corner filled with creative themes.
A Friendly Competition
School leaders used a judging rubric focused on more than looks. The criteria included how well each design showed House spirit, neatness, creativity, teamwork, effort, and the use of different materials.
This framework challenged students to think creatively and work as a team, encouraging both individual flair and a shared pursuit of excellence.
The Real Rewards
While the Houses wait to hear who won, a stronger sense of community and school spirit has already been felt as students came together to share their creativity and talents.
"I loved watching the joy from the chaos," Mrs. Finch reflected. Over two weeks, students learned valuable lessons in teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving. Our Middle Schoolers truly showed how much can be accomplished when we come together.
More than just festive décor, this new tradition has brought our Middle School community closer and created memories that will last long after the holidays. It’s a joyful reminder that this season calls us to offer the distinctive gifts God has given each of us.
