For Jim Gilvin, serving on the Mount Pisgah Christian School Board of Trustees began as a way to express his gratitude towards the school as a proud Pisgah parent. Now, his desire to serve has grown from his deep belief in the school’s mission and his commitment to seeing future families thrive. Now more than ever before, Jim is excited, hopeful, and confident about the opportunities MPCS has and the direction we are headed.

A Little Bit About Jim

Jim and his wife, Mary Anne, have called Alpharetta home for nearly three decades. Together, they raised their two children, Justin (`16) and Sarah (`21), both of whom are graduates of Mount Pisgah Christian School. In addition to his role as a husband and father, Jim has served as a MPCS Board member since 2020 and as the Mayor of Alpharetta since 2018.

When they were deciding on a school for their kids, the Gilvins were drawn to Mount Pisgah because of the way our faculty and staff wove their faith naturally into daily life, saying, “I have always loved the fact that my children’s teachers, coaches, and staff members were encouraged to share their faith with my kids.”

Some of Jim's most meaningful memories at Mount Pisgah came from watching his kids participate in Pisgah athletics and extracurricular activities. “Those of us lucky enough to be parents of athletes are truly blessed because we have the opportunity to watch our children grow as they pursue their passions,” he shared. Reflecting on those years, Jim added, “I learned more about Justin and Sarah by watching how they responded to successes and disappointments on the baseball, football, and softball fields and Equestrian venues than I could have ever learned through a report card.”

Hope For What's Ahead

As Mount Pisgah Christian School enters its 40th year, Mr. Gilvin is energized by the opportunities to grow our mission and impact within the community. “What most excites me about the future is that our school now has opportunities we could never have dreamed of just a few years ago,” he said. Specifically, the chance “to fulfill the vision of the Patriot Athletic Campus” as well as “expanding our mission by pursuing a larger campus footprint.”

This moment in time represents a significant point in the life of the school, and he is confident in leadership's ability to see the plans through to completion, saying, “MPCS is at an inflection point” and “I am confident because Dr. Harmon has assembled the most incredible leadership team I have ever seen at our school.”
