The power of teamwork and commitment was on full display as Mount Pisgah’s varsity girls cross country team capped off their season with a third-place finish at the 2025 A-AAA GHSA State Championship Meet, the highest in school history for any Pisgah cross country team.

Team members added additional excitement to the day with impressive individual achievements, including a top-ten finish by a junior Ben Plunkett (8th overall; 17:02.02) and senior Ellie Plunkett (21:23.92) and sophomore Abigail Mutch (21:41.80) finishing 18th and 19th, respectively.

Heart Behind the Achievement

This remarkable accomplishment was about much more than fast times. From veteran runners leading with grit to new teammates stepping up with courage, every athlete gave her best for each other, for their coaches, and for Mount Pisgah. Even those not competing trained as if they would be called to the line, showing the depth of dedication that defines our student-athletes.

Parents filled the sidelines to cheer for every runner. Coaches across sports rearranged schedules so more students could be part of the moment. The team tent at the meet told the story best, with banners honoring seniors, tables filled with food and fellowship, and an unmistakable sense of family.

A Legacy of Faith & Preseverance

This season will be remembered not only for its record-setting finish but also for the spirit that made it possible. It was a reflection of what makes Mount Pisgah special: faith, community, and a shared belief that when we give our all for one another, extraordinary things happen.

Congratulations to our Varsity Girls Cross Country team on a historic and inspiring season.
