This week, the following seniors made their commitments: Jack Cendoya, football at Trinity University; Maddy Childress, track and field at the University of South Carolina; Josh Tamarkin, lacrosse at Birmingham-Southern College.

They join 10 other Mount Pisgah athletes who have signed so far this year: Monet Dance, basketball at William and Mary; Erin Parker, softball at the University of North Carolina; Madison Nichols, soccer at the United States Military Academy at West Point; Kaden Alford, baseball at Young Harris College; Joey Bertrand, wrestling at Minot State University; Makael Carter, football at Washington State University; Aaron Kruse, football at the University of Pennsylvania; Brady Nardella, wrestling at Huntingdon College; Tyler Nelson, wrestling at UNC Pembroke; and Joy Chane, football at Washington University in St. Louis.

JACK CENDOYA
Trinity University
Football

From Coach John O’Connor: “Jack Cendoya had an incredible high school football career, throwing for 6,433 yards, rushing for 1,933 yards, and accounted for 86 touchdowns. He holds the following school records: single season total offense (4,497 yards), single season completion percentage (65.7%), and single season passing (3,575 yards).

These records are even more impressive because he is the seventh consecutive Mount Pisgah QB to continue on to play college football. Jack’s competitiveness and mental and physical toughness are what sets him apart and will make him successful in college athletics and life. Trinity University is getting a great young man and great football player! Congratulations, Jack!”

MADDY CHILDRESS
University of South Carolina
Track & Field

Coach Emily Payne: “Maddy is a stellar athlete whose accomplishments speak for themselves. She is a State-placing sprinter, and a two-time State Champion Triple Jumper. Instead of parading her well-deserved accolades, honors, and accomplishments, Maddy leads with a quiet and steady confidence. She is a dedicated, coachable, and committed athlete and an encouraging, uplifting, and supportive teammate. Maddy's future is incredibly bright and her MPCS family cannot wait to watch what she accomplishes with USC Track & Field.”

JOSH TAMARKIN
Birmingham-Southern College
Lacrosse

From Coach Trey Arnold: “Josh Tamarkin will go down as one of the best offensive players Mount Pisgah has ever had. He is one of the toughest kids and an even better person. He will forever be cemented in our record books with the following records: second all-time in goals in a career, second all-time in points in a career, most goals in a season (80), and most points in a season (95). Congratulations Josh!”
