Where do you currently go to school?

I am currently a Junior at Western Carolina University. I am a psychology major in the pre-medical program. After I graduate, I plan on attending medical school for psychiatry.

Do you think your time at Mount Pisgah helped you to pursue this? If yes, how?

I truly believe that my time at Mount Pisgah gave me the life skills and confidence to achieve my goals. Every teacher was very supportive and made sure each student was able to succeed. The curriculum at Mount Pisgah really prepared me for my college classes.

Did you ever envision doing this while you were at Mount Pisgah?

I would have never imagined that I would be at where I am today.

Where do you live now?

I live in the small college town of Cullowhee, North Carolina.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?

Mr. Smith was my favorite teacher at Mount Pisgah. I had him as my math teacher for 3 years in high school, and he was also my SharpTop cabin leader. I really struggled in math during high school, and he was always there after school if I needed help on an assignment. He never gave up on me and prepared me for math in college.

What was your most memorable moment as a student?

My most memorable memorable moment as a student was my senior year SharpTop trip.  It was fun being able to help run the camp for the middle schoolers. I always looked forward to the SharpTop trip we took as a school every year, and it was my favorite tradition at Pisgah.

Do you still keep in touch with anyone you met at Mount Pisgah?

Yes, I keep in touch with a couple of friends that I graduated with. The people I am still in touch with are at different schools, but we make sure to see each other over breaks.

Describe Mount Pisgah in 3 words?

Family. Love. God.

What is your lasting impression of Mount Pisgah?

When I first graduated high school, I did not think Mount Pisgah was really anything special. It was not until I started taking college classes that I really appreciated what I learned at Mount Pisgah. I never understood how true the “College Prep. Life Ready” motto was until I got to college.  A lot of the material I was learning my freshman year of college was material I remembered seeing from high school. I was a C student throughout high school and now I am on the dean’s list. Mount Pisgah was the school that gave me the tools and confidence to succeed.
