The mission of the Mount Pisgah Christian School counseling team is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the spiritual, academic, personal and social development of all students. In partnership with other educators, parents and community members, school counselors support the school mission to teach foundational truth in an ever changing world, empowering students to think critically and creatively and to act with courage and compassion.
Student Support Services at Mount Pisgah Christian School are individualized, layered strategies and services for students who need a little more to achieve classroom success.
In the Middle School and the Upper Schools, this is accomplished by providing supplementary direct instruction addressing executive functioning skills and study skills.
The Center for Student Success provides individualized, layered strategies and services for students who need a little more to achieve classroom success.
Any Mount Pisgah student is eligible; however, some students may need additional evaluations from outside professionals to qualify for some services.
Students must have the intellectual ability for a college preparatory curriculum. Students with learning differences due to behavioral or emotional concerns or students who need consistent small group instruction may not be best served by our programs.
Mount Pisgah does not allow outside tutors during the regular school day; however, we provide referrals for outside tutors upon request.
Mount Pisgah Lower School partners with outside providers, procured by parents such as Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behavior Therapists and Reading Therapists, to have sessions with students during co-curricular classes or after school on our campus.
Students who provide a professional evaluation (such as a psychological evaluation, speech & language evaluation, occupational therapy evaluation, and/or medical diagnosis) may qualify for Mount Pisgah approved classroom accommodations.
Any time an evaluation is completed, it can be reviewed by the grade level counselor or student support specialist for approved accommodations.
Requests for paperwork should be forwarded to the division counselor.
$5,000 for the year, $2,500 per semester
In the Lower School: Students may enroll in Student Support Services in two different ways. If your child already has a professional evaluation, such as a speech evaluation, occupational therapy evaluation, educational psychological evaluation, and/or a medical diagnosis, he/she may be considered for services immediately. For students who begin to struggle, we have a referral process to better understand your student’s needs and choose an appropriate intervention per administrators’ discretion.
MPCS/LS is fortunate to have a wonderful lower school counselor who is available to talk with students, advise faculty and partner with parents. We do not provide on-going individualized counseling. Mount Pisgah does have The Summit Counseling Center as a part of our Mount Pisgah organization, which offers on-going, individualized student/family counseling. With the center right across the street from our school, families can easily take advantage of their excellent services.
Mount Pisgah Christian School is proud to provide an exceptional college counseling experience backed by the expertise of an outstanding team of professionals. Each student is well known at Mount Pisgah and individual strengths, talents and preferences are taken into account throughout the college counseling process. Students meet early and often with the team for college planning and preparation. The counseling team utilizes the Naviance Family Connection system to help students organize their materials and thoughts during college exploration. Checklists, informative meetings and workshops are provided for both students and parents. Learn more about the program by clicking here.
